Most households now run four or more connected devices. A single TotalAV Plus subscription can protect Windows, Mac, iOS and Android under one account — here is what you need to know before installing across your devices.
One plan, four platforms
TotalAV Plus is compatible with Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. You log in with the same account credentials on each device, and the subscription gives you a set number of protected device slots. To add a device, you simply download the relevant app for that platform, sign in, and run an initial scan.
This matters if your household includes a mix of operating systems — a Windows desktop, a MacBook, an iPhone and an Android phone, for example. Rather than separate antivirus tools for each platform, TotalAV keeps everything under a single account and a single billing cycle.
What protection looks like on each platform
On Windows and Mac, TotalAV runs continuous background scanning that monitors processes and files for threats in real time. The system tune-up tools — disk cleaner and browser manager — are also available on desktop platforms, since performance optimisation is most relevant there.
On iOS and Android, the focus shifts to VPN access, WebShield (blocking phishing and scam sites in the browser), and the Total Password vault. Mobile devices face a different mix of threats from desktops — phishing links received in messages and on social media are a significant concern, which is where WebShield's browser-level blocking is useful day to day.
The VPN across devices
The Safe Browsing VPN included in TotalAV Plus uses AES-256 encryption. It is particularly useful on mobile devices, where users are more likely to connect to unfamiliar Wi-Fi networks — in hotels, cafés or public transport. Activating the VPN on those connections keeps your browsing traffic encrypted, which prevents traffic from being read by others on the same network.
The VPN is available on both mobile and desktop platforms, and you can enable it through the TotalAV app on whichever device you're using at the time.
Keeping the subscription manageable
Because TotalAV Plus covers multiple devices, it is worth thinking about which devices genuinely need it. Your main work laptop, the family desktop, and the phone you use for banking and email are likely the highest priority. Installing TotalAV on those first makes practical sense. You can always check your account to see how many device slots remain, and add or change devices as needed.
If a device is replaced or retired, you can remove it from your account and protect a new device instead — keeping within your plan's device limit without paying for an upgrade.
